Construction on the new bike station at the Ashby BART location, which has been briefly delayed while cabling and security cameras are put into place, should resume shortly. The 124-capacity bike station will open "within a month" according to Steve Beroldo of BART's Customer Access Department.

A new 124-capacity bike station will open within a month at Ashby BART station. The bike station will be similar to the existing self-service bike parking facility at Embarcadero station, and will be located just south of the main station entrance.

August’s East Bay Bike Party begins at the Lake Merritt BART station (Ninth and Oak streets) at 8 p.m. this Friday, Aug. 13, and features a “Superheroes” theme. Riders and volunteers will be gathering beginning at 7:30 p.m., in costume and ready to ride.

The missus and I took advantage of the beautiful weather and hopped on bikes for a quick ride around Lake Merritt today. Since we are recent returnees to the area we're looking for changes that have been made in the community since departing 15 years ago. We were delighted to find that there are well marked bike lanes nearly the entire route around the lake.
