It's bad enough that the OPD's response to budget cuts is to push more of the reporting to an online system, but it is outrageous that the online system doesn't work on a cell phone with a web browser.  In a city where general unemployment is 17% or better, and unemployment among specific commmunities can be over 40%, doesn't the City of Oakland recognize that many victims of crimes would lack timely access to computers--and have web-enabled phones?

We may live in a city where the layoff of 80 police officers is going to result in a department that refuses to come to your house when you get robbed or your car is stolen, but that doesn't mean Oakland police have slowed down in asking the public for help.

Federal agents raided a West Oakland apartment complex Wednesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation into marijuana trafficking, said an Oakland Police Department official.

Around 6 a.m. the federal agents — along with Officer Jason Sena of the Oakland Police department — executed search warrants on six of the eight apartments at 2842 Adeline St. between 28th and 30th streets, said police spokeswoman Holly Joshi. She said the operation was conducted as part of the DEA task force, one of several such interagency organizations.

Joshi said she did not know if anyone was arrested during the raid.

Judge Robert Freedman of the Alameda County Superior Court has approved and  the Oakland gang injunction against 15 members of a North Oakland street gang. The goal of the injunction is to prevent criminal activities of the NSO--North Side Oakland--gang, whose members, says the city, are drug dealers, robbers, and gang members.
